CAD survey underlays
If you have a measured survey, trace over it instead of the aerial photo. Open 🔍 Find a site… and choose Import a CAD survey.
CAD underlay (DXF / DWG)

Load a CAD file (DXF, or DWG which is converted automatically) as a true vector underlay. You get:
- Opacity — fade the underlay under your design.
- Units — tell Airship whether the file is in millimetres, metres or feet so it scales correctly.
- Scale (📏) — click two points a known distance apart to set the real-world scale precisely.
- Layers — show or hide individual CAD layers.
- Unload — remove the underlay.
Your drawing tools snap to the CAD linework, so you can trace boundaries and existing features accurately.
Tip. For a DWG, Airship converts it to DXF in the cloud before loading — give it a few seconds on a large file.
Scanned images. Loading a survey as a JPG or PNG has been retired. A CAD underlay carries real coordinates so the scale is right from the start, and the aerial map covers the case where you have no survey at all.
