Saving a design

In the Templates & save sidebar section, use Save design to store the current scheme, and Designs to reload a saved one. A design captures the whole project — boundary, roads, plots, parking, landscaping, house types and settings.

Templates save just your settings — site rules, road geometry, parking and house-type mix — so you can apply a house style to a new site in one click, without the geometry. See Templates & saved designs.

The example sites

Every account is given a set of worked example schemes to open, pull apart and copy from. They are ordinary designs in every respect — edit them, rename them, delete the ones you do not want — with one exception: they do not count towards your plan's design limit. They were handed to you rather than drawn by you, so on Free you still get your own two on top of them. Editing one keeps it out of the count.

From time to time an example is improved. A copy you have never touched is brought up to date for you, with the design it replaced kept as a version you can roll back to; a copy you have edited is never overwritten.

The dashboard

The Dashboard (top-bar link) lists your saved projects as cards with thumbnails, and is where you manage your profile, plan and team. See Sharing, teams & versions.

• Order. Most recently updated first, always — there is no sort control. Opening and saving a design therefore moves it to the front.
• Load more. Designs arrive sixteen at a time; the button at the foot of the list fetches the next sixteen and disappears when there are none left. Nothing loads as you scroll.
• Search matches the design's name only, anywhere in it and regardless of case. It does not look inside the design, so an address or a postcode in the scheme will not find it.
• Residential / Retail filters by the kind of scheme. Retail is a private beta, so unless your workspace is in it that filter will find nothing.
