Comments on a design

A comment is a numbered pin dropped on a point of the drawing, with a conversation attached. It is a way to say "this turning head is too tight" about the exact spot, without changing the design.

Opening the comments panel

Comments belong to a saved cloud design, so they appear once you are signed in and have opened a design. A small 💬 pill sits at the top-right of the drawing, showing the number of open comments on the view you are looking at; click it to show or hide the Comments panel. The panel header repeats that count, and a ✕ closes it again.

Dropping a comment

Click 📍 Drop a comment at the foot of the panel, or press C when you are not typing into a field. A prompt appears at the top of the drawing, and the cursor becomes a crosshair — press Esc to change your mind.

Now click the point you mean. A small box opens beside it:

The pin is a teardrop whose point marks the exact spot, numbered in the order comments were created on that design — so "number 7" means the same thing to everyone. It is orange normally, purple when the comment is internal and grey once the thread is closed, and gains a small badge counting the messages in the thread.

Where a pin stays put

A pin is anchored to a point on the ground, not to a plot or a road, so generating a fresh layout never orphans it. On a design with a map behind it the position is stored as latitude and longitude, which means changing the map zoom or the drawing scale leaves every pin on its subject.

A comment also remembers the surface it was left on — the model, a particular sketch view, or a sheet (every sheet counts as the same surface) — and the panel lists only the ones belonging to where you are, otherwise saying No comments on this view yet. Pins are painted on the overlay rather than into the drawing, so they never show up in an issued PDF sheet, a DXF or a render.

Replying and recording the outcome

Click a pin, or a card in the panel, to open the thread. Opening it from the panel also takes you to the view the author had on screen when they wrote it, which is what makes a three-week-old note answerable. Type into the Reply… box and press Reply; each message shows its author and how long ago it was written.

Workspace members also get a status list on an open thread:

Who can see them

Everyone in your workspace sees the design's comments, and everyone can write one — including a read-only member, because commenting is not editing.

Someone you send a review link to opens the design read-only, under a 👁 Review banner, and can comment without an account. The first time they comment they are asked for Your name, unless the invitation already carried it, and their messages are tagged GUEST so you always know which voice is from outside. If their link was issued view-only, the panel tells them so instead of offering the button. A reviewer never receives internal threads at all, and cannot reply to one; changing a status is reserved for members.

Finding out, and removing

Nothing is emailed when a comment is left, so the count on the 💬 button is how you notice: it refreshes when the design is opened.

The panel has no delete button — retire a thread with Resolved or Won't do and it stays in the record, one tick of Done away. A reviewer on a review link has Remove my comments in the notice at the bottom-left of their screen; confirming it removes every thread they started and every reply they left on that design, and cannot be undone.
