The Site rules (m) section holds the dimensional standards the generator works to. Start from a preset, then fine-tune.
Standards presets
The preset selector loads a coherent set of values for a recognised approach — Durham County Council, Manual for Streets or Compact. Picking one fills in the fields below; you can then adjust any of them.
The settings
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Side gap | Minimum space between neighbouring houses. |
| Carriageway | Road width (the trafficked surface). |
| Footway | Pavement width alongside roads. |
| Drive width | Default driveway width from garage/parking to the footway. |
| Setback | Distance from the footway to the front of a house. |
| Garden overlap | How much rear gardens may interlock — more overlap fits more plots but shortens gardens. |
| Min garden | Minimum rear garden depth. |
| Min garden area | Minimum rear garden area. |
Confirm locally. Presets are a feasibility starting point. Always confirm the final geometry with the adopting highway authority and current standards.
